Fire Cider

I just love Fire cider. We have it every morning at home and I recommend it to everyone. It’s a powerful immunity booster and you can feel the goodness working its way into your body as it goes down. It may even put hairs on your chest!

Fire cider is made with ingredients you will all have in your fridge or kitchen pantry. The video below from Rosemary Gladstar explains how to make it. (bonus is that she shares lots of great information about medicinal foods.) Keep in mind that the instructions recommend waiting 4 weeks for the mix to be ready. In times like these with more urgency required, you can start using it after three days. Take off some mixture from the top and add an equal amount of vinegar back in. Rosemary suggests you sweeten the mix, I prefer to keep it tart and then combine it with Elderberry syrup each time I take it.

Its important to remember that these recipes are not about precision. You can flavor the Fire Cider to taste and use less ingredients if you cant get them all. I couldn’t get my hands on everything recently so made a horseradish only cider (the jar on the left side, below). Still delicious and with some great medicinal properties.
